the Master"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>What words do you use to describe the loss of one who has had so much influence in your life.<br \/>\nOne who\u2019s words speak into the depths of your soul.<br \/>\nOne who moved you\u00a0so powerfully through all of your decades.<br \/>\nOne who\u2019s words and music soothed and loved you during the hardest time of your life.<\/p>\n<p>I cut my teen teeth on this album.<br \/>\nWho doesn\u2019t know \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=6o6zMPLcXZ8\" target=\"_blank\">Suzanne<\/a>\u2019 and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=oTenx7RBQZs\" target=\"_blank\">So long, Marianne<\/a>\u2019?<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-558\" src=\"http:\/\/mybigballofstring.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/SongsOfLeonardCohen.jpeg\" alt=\"songsofleonardcohen\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mybigballofstring.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/SongsOfLeonardCohen.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/mybigballofstring.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/SongsOfLeonardCohen-150x150.jpeg 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 85vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In latter years Leonard came to New Zealand three times.<br \/>\nI so wanted to go to that first concert in Wellington, but it was on my birthday\u00a0in mid January\u00a0&#8211; \u00a0at a time of the year I thought\u00a0I couldn\u2019t possibly get away from the farm due to the tourist season etc.<br \/>\nSadly I never even tried to make it work.<br \/>\nThat became\u00a0my biggest regret.<\/p>\n<p>When <a href=\"https:\/\/rabbitsnest.wordpress.com\/2010\/11\/03\/what-a-wonderful-day-and-night\/\" target=\"_blank\">he returned in November 2010<\/a> I was absolutely determined I was going.<br \/>\nI travelled to Christchurch and had my socks completely blown off!<br \/>\nHe was so much more than I had ever dreamed of.<br \/>\nThe only sad thing was that I was there on my own and had no one to share the absolute delight with.<\/p>\n<p>Then, he became far far more intensely involved with my life.<br \/>\nI have always loved words.<br \/>\nAs a writer words touch &amp; feed my heart and soul, the\u00a0ebb &amp; flow of them between myself and other writers is what makes me tick.<\/p>\n<p>When Tim was killed Leonard bathed my soul with all his songs.<br \/>\nHe\u00a0embraced my hurting heart with these two specifically &#8230;.<br \/>\n<strong>&#8216;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=b-bJPmasXKs\" target=\"_blank\">Hey, That&#8217;s No Way To Say Goodbye<\/a>&#8216;\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\n<em>I loved you in the morning, our kisses deep and warm,\u00a0<\/em><br \/>\n<em>your hair upon the pillow like a sleepy golden storm,\u00a0<\/em><br \/>\n<em>yes, many loved before us, I know that we are not new,\u00a0<\/em><br \/>\n<em>in city and in forest they smiled like me and you,\u00a0<\/em><br \/>\n<em>but now it&#8217;s come to distances and both of us must try,\u00a0<\/em><br \/>\n<em>your eyes are soft with sorrow,\u00a0<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Hey, that&#8217;s no way to say goodbye.\u00a0<\/em><br \/>\n<em>I&#8217;m not looking for another as I wander in my time,\u00a0<\/em><br \/>\n<em>walk me to the corner, our steps will always rhyme\u00a0<\/em><br \/>\n<em>you love\u00a0<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Dance me to the end of love<br \/>\n<\/em><br \/>\nChristian came down and spent his time creating\u00a0a slideshow for me.<br \/>\nI was so busy getting the funeral organised that I never had time to see what he was doing.<br \/>\nThen the night before I finally caught my breath and asked him if I could watch it.<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=zmKoRYrjx80&amp;feature=youtu.be\" target=\"_blank\">It was so beautiful, but the pain hit me so hard I crumbled and cried and cried and cried.<\/a><br \/>\nIt was such a blessing.<br \/>\nIf I hadn&#8217;t seen it then I would have totally lost it at the church and not have had the strength to speak.<br \/>\nI am forever grateful to Christian for making this video.<br \/>\nIt is a real treasure for us.<\/p>\n<p>When Leonard\u00a0returned for a third\u00a0time in Dec 2014 I was there with bells on!<br \/>\nThis time <a href=\"https:\/\/rabbitsnest.wordpress.com\/2013\/12\/14\/saturday-14th-december\/\" target=\"_blank\">I went with friends.<br \/>\n<\/a>The best way to see a show is with friends to enjoy it with.<br \/>\nAnd this show was THE absolute best.<br \/>\nHe was 80 years old and like a good wine he certainly aged well.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-557\"
