I used to think therapy was the difficult stuff
\nthe hour long sessions spent with my therapist
\nBut
\nit’s not<\/p>\n

Therapy has
\nmany colours
\nmany forms
\nmany shapes
\nmany times<\/p>\n

Therapy
\nfor me
\nis writing<\/em>
\nis meeting a friend for coffee and and one on one time
\nis time & fun with my children<\/em>
\nis taking the dog for a quiet meander along the river walk
\nis impulsively popping in for a chat with a friend<\/em>
\nis sweating up a steep hill track and taking in the spectacular views from the top of my achievement
\nis impulsively shopping<\/em>
\nis leaning into the arms of my closest tribal members and sobbing my heart out
\nis allowing them to feel my pain<\/em>
\nis receiving their love and encouragement
\nis watching movies that make me cry, and laugh, and think<\/em>
\nis sharing my innermost soulful thoughts with my best friend
\nis spending a day in bed with Netflix just because I can<\/em>
\nis messaging my lover in the early hours of the morning
\nis sharing belly laughing crazy wine drinking sessions with my tribe<\/em>
\nis creating art
\nis accepting the love and understanding of my man<\/em>
\nis being held safe in his arms
\nis sitting at the beach and soaking in the sunshine<\/em>
\nis planning my garden
\nis clambering around slippery river rocks with my children<\/em>
\nis walking beside others who have also experienced my journey
\nis creating something joyous and wonderful and beautiful
\n<\/em>is dancing wild and free
\nis making love
\n<\/em>is gloriously wonderful food
\nis coffee<\/em>
\nis orange<\/span> :-)Therapy is caring for me in a way that restores my soul
\nBut
\nI find
\nit tends to come delivered on a roller coaster
\nI delight in the parts of the ride that are slow
\neasy
\nsoothing
\ncruising
\nbut
\nwhile I am enjoying them I don’t tend to notice that the car I am riding in is beginning to climb…
\nUntil I am perched at the top
\nrocking
\nwaiting
\nthen….
\nhorrifyingly
\nthe ride it gets to be screamingly scary
\nSituations arise
\nEvents happen
\nmy carriage plunges
\ndown
\ndown
\ndown<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

and the therapy becomes
\nbrutally intense
\nit makes me writhe in pain
\nI feel as if I am being torn apart
\nthe anguish of the years
\ncomes pouring out of my eyes
\nwithout permission
\nand when I think
\nI just cannot bare another moment,
\nwhen I am totally emotionally spent
\nthe roller coaster reaches the bottom
\nand quietly cruises again
\nI gasp and gulp and reel
\nfrom the carnage wrought on my soul
\nI nurse my bruises
\nthen realise
\nI made it through
\nthat time
\nI begin the gentle soul soothing nurturing
\nknowing that this time
\nI have been made stronger
\nso that the next time my carriage reaches its peak
\nthe pain won’t be as raw
\nthe screaming not as loud
\nthe ride down not as intense
\nnor as long<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\nis not an easy journey
\nit is wrought with hard seasons
\nbut it is not an impossible journey
\nif you are willing to reach out
